cherry cheeked and breathless
a little girl
pauses at the top of
her swing and
her brother
-gap tooth and grubby-
does the same
at the end of a see-saw
i am not the pivot
-funny feeling in the tummy-
i am on the merry-go-round
intergalactic knight
fleet-foot
on a unicorn
daddy in delight
See - Sunday

evocative short poetry – words move

thanks for posting…
lovely nomination,
have fun today..
come to vote in my blog when you have a free moment, Thanks.
Great poem.
Love this one..takes me back few years..maybe a few more than that
to when my kids played on swings and seesaws..nicely descriptive
Moments suspended in full glide,
Whether swing, unicorn, or slide,
Are the ones indelibly written,
Across time, And our hearts smitten,
With all that is precious and good,
One thread of life that is understood.
Your poetry always manages to bring the immediacy of the moment so beautifully to the page! You are a wonderful talent! I have the feeling that one day I will be able to say, “I knew him when!”
well, i don’t know who the dude in the photo is, but i know it is not you. nonetheless, i love this poem! the playground. both of my kids have crazy hair, especially when they go down the slides. especially plastic slides. it makes their long hair raise up off their heads like they were shocked. it’s amazing to see! also, i like the idea of dada as intergalactic knight. keep em coming, love.
