The tyranny of doubt

short poetry, aging, doubt, regret, endings, death, love generation

When you are born,
You know that you are,
Here to change the world,
And it is good,
And it’s alright,
To do your best.

Then,

You’re checking the curtains,
Just in case,
You run out of sunshine.

  1. I’ve been reading through your blog and… wow. You have SUCH a way with words. You have that rare ability to write with such a human touch, and I’m really impressed.

  2. I LOVE this poem!!!!!! SO much! And I am sorry you lost your doggy pal. I lost my once in a lifetime dog January 2010 and still grieve his loss. He was a wolf-dog and incredibly special. Our bond ran deep, we shared a love of the wilderness. Sigh. We sure miss our buds when they’re gone, dont we?

  3. Darn it, I never close my curtains. Lovely write.

I don’t agree, ha! But I love your words. They are so far, always both evocative and provacative.

Very clever! We all want to do our best and then for it to work out. Not so much fun to do when the result is less than iffy. k.

  9. I took my curtains down.
    You don’t need them
if you live in the woods.

I still check to see how much sunshine is left, though.

    Beautiful.
